To conclude London Fashion Week, I attended 'Synthetic Femininity' exhibition by the American fashion designer Shahini Fakhourie, which rounded off a season of political statements, female empowerment and divinity. It's the first time she's launched her brand of sustainable and luxury streetwear in London, but it seems like a completely logical step, as the clothes and fashion accessories feel like they're made for the ecosystem of this vibrant city. According to the designer, the charm of this collection is its versatility, as everyone can adapt the clothes to themselves, regardless of gender. "Femininity has different forms, even though society teaches us differently, but we can completely adapt it to ourselves," says the designer. For example, many pieces act as fashion accessories instead of traditional clothing and can be used according to one's own wishes and creativity. That's why we agreed that this collection could live on the streets of London, as well as anywhere else, as it contains the inspiration of the grunge aesthetic of Miami, where the designer comes from. Regarding sustainability, Fakhourie focuses on making everything she does sustainable. In doing so, she uses fabrics that are not tied to season and are mostly made from recycled materials - one such is nylon made from plastic bottles. She also puts a lot of emphasis on fair trade and works with companies that are run by women, and the clothes are made either in Brooklyn, Jamaica or Miami.
